Deposits & Cancellations

Daycare

Daycare fees are due at time of reservation. Daycare packages are available at discounted rates. Daycare days do not expire. Daycare days can be applied to overnight stays. Daycare packages are non-refundable and non-transferable. The only exception made is if Good Dog GR removes the dog from daycare due to behavioral issues, then the days left on the package will be refunded.

Dog Overnight

A 50% deposit is due at booking for overnight stays. 7-days advance notice of the reservation is required to receive a full refund. Cancellations within the 7-day period prior to the reservation and “no-shows” forfeit their 50% deposit. Please keep this in mind when scheduling a reservation within the 7-day window. Remaining fees are due at checkout. For first time boarders, a Full or Half Day Daycare is required in advance. This is so we can get to know your dog and make sure s/he has what they need for an enjoyable stay.

Late Fees

Daycare and Grooming

We will charge a $1 per minute late fee for daycare dogs not picked up by 6:30PM, due at pick up, until 7:00PM at which time your dog will be checked into boarding for the evening. Applicable boarding rates will apply along with an additional fee for food (Hill’s Science Diet at $10 per day) provided by Good Dog GR.

Overnight

Late charges, additional boarding fees and food costs will apply if you do not pick up your pet same day as checkout either between 6:30AM to 11:30AM or 1:30PM to 6:30PM Monday through Friday or by appointment on weekends. If you do not pick up your dog 48 hours past the agreed pickup time without notifying Good Dog GR, your dog will be considered abandoned, and the Humane Society will be called. You are fully responsible for any attorney fees and associated costs if you abandon your pet.

First Day AKA "Trial Day"

Your dog’s first day is considered their “Trial Day”. Their first day is when the Good Dog GR staff will evaluate and determine your dog’s energy levels, temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, etc. When positive behavior is observed, your dog will be slowly introduced to other dogs one at a time. This takes time and depends on your dog, so we ask that your dog stay with us for at least a half day (4-5 hours). We reserve the right to refuse any dog that is not exhibiting behavior suitable for group play or overnight stay.

Reservations

Reservations are required for all services at Good Dog GR. For daycare, a 24-hour advance reservation is preferred so we can ensure proper staffing, but you are welcome to call the day of to check the availability.

Food & Medication

Daycare Food – Lunch Only

We strongly encourage your dog to eat at home before and/or after daycare. However, if your dog needs a meal or snack for lunch, we ask that you provide the food inside an airtight container with their name on it. Please note: Dogs that eat lunch will take an extended break afterwards before returning to play group to help reduce the risk of bloat.

Overnight Food – Please Bring

If your dog is boarding with us, we strongly discourage changing your dog’s dietary habits during their stay and require that you provide us with the food that your pet eats regularly in a labeled airtight container or Ziploc bag. We don’t charge extra for accommodating special diets and ask that you provide us with any allergies or preferences your dog has if we need to supplement their food. Please note: If you only feed your dog once a day, we will split that meal into two portions to help reduce the risk of bloat. If you do not bring food for your dog, we will charge an additional fee for food (Hill’s Science Diet at $10 per day) provided by Good Dog GR.

Medication

We are happy to administer any medications your dog may need, at intervals that are required, at no additional charge. We require (as is required by law) that their pharmaceutical (prescription) medications are given to us in their original un-expired prescription bottles, with accurate dosage information (as prescribed by your veterinarian) intact on the bottle, and some contents still in the container. If your dog needs to have any medication administered for the purpose of calming, please call Good Dog GR in advance to discuss.

Dress Code

All dogs must come into the facility on a leash. However, during their stay they will enjoy “naked” play (or play without a collar or harness on). Nametags are recommended on the pet’s collar and/or leash.

Medical Care

Daycare & Overnight

There is inherent rough housing in play. All dogs are screened for aggression, but fights can still occur. Puncture wounds are also possible during play sessions. If your dog(s) is/are injured while at daycare, our staff will attempt to reach you at the contact numbers provided. If we are unable to reach you, or in the case of an emergency, we will seek medical attention at Animal Emergency Hospital, located at 3260 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. All medical expenses for veterinary care are the responsibility of the owner.

Grooming

Occasionally, grooming can expose hidden medical issues or aggravate a current one. This can occur any time before, during, or after the grooming process.

Grooming equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, etc. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, our staff will attempt to reach you at the contact numbers provided. If Good Dog GR feels it is serious, and we cannot reach you and/or your emergency contact, we will seek immediate veterinary care for your pet at Animal Emergency Hospital, located at 3260 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
